Description

The RootSense Kit adds precise substrate monitoring and irrigation control to GrowBase Pro WiFi. The sensor measures volumetric water content (VWC), pore water electrical conductivity (pwEC), and temperature directly inside the substrate. This allows you to monitor not only how quickly the substrate dries back, but also how EC and temperature develop within the root zone.

When used together with GrowBase Pro WiFi, various irrigation strategies are possible. You can operate traditional time-based irrigation schedules or use VWC-based irrigation, where watering events are triggered automatically based on the measured substrate moisture level. This makes the kit particularly attractive for ambitious growers who want to optimize irrigation based on real data rather than assumptions.

The RootSense Link communicates with the substrate sensor and additionally provides one switched relay output and two digital inputs. The relay output can be used to control an irrigation zone. The digital inputs can be used, for example, for a tank minimum level sensor to protect pumps from dry running or for leak detection.

Der RootSense Link fragt den Substratsensor ab und stellt zusätzlich einen geschalteten Relais-Ausgang sowie zwei digitale Eingänge bereit. Der Relais-Ausgang kann zur Ansteuerung einer Bewässerungszone verwendet werden. Die digitalen Eingänge können z. B. für einen Tank-Minimum-Sensor zum Trockenlaufschutz der Pumpe oder für eine Leckageüberwachung genutzt werden.

Initially, one irrigation zone is supported. A future firmware update is planned to expand support to up to four independently monitored and controlled irrigation zones.
